A player’s custom hero is not expected to change the tragic ending of *Attack on Titan* in any fundamental way; the game is being presented as a faithful retelling of the full saga, including its established finale. Koei Tecmo and Omega Force say *Attack on Titan 3* will depict the story “from beginning to end,” and the additional reporting makes clear that the finale follows the anime version, which was generally better received than the manga’s original ending. That means the major narrative beats — the Rumbling, the final confrontation, and the deaths of key characters — are likely to remain intact. The custom Scout appears designed to deepen immersion rather than rewrite canon. Players will create their own hero, lead a Survey Squad, build relationships with characters such as Eren, Mikasa, and Armin, and unlock abilities and extra scenes. Those systems can personalize how the story is experienced and may add emotional context, but there is no indication they will let players avert the ending or alter its ultimate outcome. There is, however, some room for fresh material. Koei Tecmo has confirmed original story content developed under Hajime Isayama’s supervision. Based on what has been announced, that new content seems intended to expand the journey around the main plot, not replace the core ending. In practical terms, the custom hero will let players participate in the saga’s final tragedy from inside the action, but not undo it.
