Summary
Eight companies joined the U.S. Forces Korea Veterans Employment Platform on Wednesday, lifting participation to 29 and expanding a hiring network linking former U.S. troops with Korean firms operating in the United States.
About 500 jobs are now listed across construction, manufacturing, energy and mobility, as Korean business and trade officials pitch the program as a way to match veterans' experience with rising Korean investment in the U.S.
SK Ecoplant delivered the platform's first confirmed hire, giving the initiative an early proof point as the chamber and the Korea-U.S. Alliance Foundation signed another cooperation agreement in Seoul.
Launched through a September partnership and promoted at U.S. military bases in Pyeongtaek, Dongducheon and Osan, the program is being framed as a model for extending the bilateral alliance beyond defense into jobs and economic ties.
