A Florida judge denied bond to Kyle Sanchez, 35, after prosecutors played a 911 call in which he said, “I murdered my girlfriend,” during a pretrial detention hearing.
Amanda Roark, 37, was found dead with upper-body trauma at the couple’s Palm River home on June 19, and local reports say Sanchez is accused of stabbing her 15 times.
Sanchez has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder with a weapon and will remain in custody as the Hillsborough County case moves forward; authorities have not released a motive.
Roark worked at Tampa-based SOFWERX, which called her a cherished teammate, while friends remembered her as an engineer and mentor to young women in math, technology and engineering.
