Summary
Sixteen children ranging from 18 months to 18 years old were removed from a Hamden-area home Tuesday, with two flown to trauma centers and others treated at hospitals across Ohio.
Four suspects — Gary Siders Sr., Gary Siders Jr., Christina Siders and Elizabeth Siders — were taken into custody after investigators executed a search warrant at the Ohmer Street property.
Child endangerment charges have been filed, and officials said the children’s lives were in danger; Attorney General Andy Wilson called the scene one of the worst he has seen and described it as “pure evil.”
A secondary investigation is underway at the home, where authorities have not yet said what triggered the search or clarified the children’s relationship to the suspects.
The four are due in Vinton County Common Pleas Court at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday as state and local agencies continue the case.
