Thomas Tuchel said Germany and the Netherlands' round-of-32 exits should "calm" England before Wednesday's knockout match with Congo DR in Atlanta, helping his side avoid overconfidence as heavy favourites.
Two days after Germany lost to Paraguay and the Dutch fell to Morocco, Tuchel said the World Cup's narrow margins showed how hard it is for favourites to break down disciplined underdogs.
England, ranked No. 4 by FIFA, face a Congo DR side ranked 46th and chasing its first ever place in the last 16, but Tuchel pointed to England's draw with Ghana and laboured win over Panama as warnings.
