Summary
July 1 will bring a broad new batch of Minnesota laws, including mandatory warning labels on social media apps and new licensing standards for veterinary technicians.
Veterinary technicians must complete 16 hours of continuing education each licensing period, follow humane-care standards, and release records on request, while the Board of Veterinary Medicine gains clearer suspension and revocation authority.
Social media platforms operating in Minnesota must display a mental-health warning at every login and include crisis resources, including the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
Other measures taking effect include a court process letting abuse victims end another person's contract-for-deed interest after 21 days without a response, plus $3 million for Minnesota State to fight 'ghost student' aid fraud.
The session also set future changes in motion, including anonymous school threat-reporting systems required by July 1, 2028, with another round of laws scheduled for Aug. 1.
