Summary
Twenty-nine finalists have been shortlisted for the 2026 ZWO Astronomy Photographer of the Year after judges reviewed nearly 4,000 entries from 66 countries.
Eight primary categories produced multi-photo shortlists, while two special prizes and the Young Astronomy Photographer category each have a single shortlisted entrant.
The 18th annual competition will award £10,000 to the overall winner, with £1,500 for category winners and smaller prizes for runners-up, highly commended entries and special awards.
Winning images will be announced on September 17 and shown from September 18 at the National Maritime Museum in England.
