Human Remains Found in Queens School Chimney After 911 Call Over Foul Odor

Police responding just before 9 a.m. Tuesday found human remains inside the chimney of P.S./I.S. 113 Anthony J. Pranzo in Glendale, Queens.
A custodian had called an exterminator to check a foul odor believed to be from pests; the worker found a shoe and then a foot, prompting the 911 call.
The remains had not yet been removed Tuesday, and the Medical Examiner will determine the victim’s identity and cause of death as detectives question contractors about whether anyone is missing.
No students or staff were in the building because classes ended Friday and the school is closed for summer repairs, though summer camp is due to start next week.
