Mikey Angelo Discusses 5 VidCons of Internet Change as Burnout Shadows Creator Work

Five VidCons after attending as a fan, Mikey Angelo said at VidCon that creator work now means navigating burnout, algorithms and a sharply changed internet culture.
Angelo said his monthly musical recaps are built from hours of scrolling, note-taking and filtering what belongs in the final cut — essentially turning his own For You Page into a song.
That always-on process makes it hard to disconnect from social media, but he said he tries to document viral moments in his own voice rather than chase every trend.
The interview also pointed to a broader career shift: Angelo wants to return to long-form YouTube, pursue songwriting beyond internet recaps and move past the narrow label of "creator."
