Google Adds WebView v150 Developer Tools in June 2026 Update

Android System WebView v150 adds new developer features in Google’s June 2026 system update, with the release aimed at improving security and reliability across Android-related devices.
Two key additions are the HTTP Cache Quota API for manual cache-size management and the enqueuePreconnect API, which lets apps queue network preconnects without immediately starting WebView.
Google said WebView now uses a native-only renderer and the update also includes security, privacy and bug-fix improvements.
The changes are delivered through Google System Updates—via Play system components and apps—rather than a single standalone package, and may roll out experimentally to some users first.
