A birthday post from Maye Musk’s X account drew backlash after users spotted a “Made With AI” label on images of Elon Musk celebrating his 55th birthday with a Starship-shaped cake and Moon-base display.
The tag was later removed, but the photos’ polished look and garbled Lego details kept doubts alive over whether the images were AI-generated or merely AI-enhanced.
X users also revived a separate theory that Musk controls his mother’s account himself, arguing the birthday post fit earlier odd behavior from the account.
That suspicion traces to a since-deleted post earlier this year in which Maye Musk’s account appeared to refer to her own mother in a confusing third-person way, fueling speculation about who is really posting.
The social-media flare-up landed as Musk was already facing wider criticism over other controversies, adding another distraction around the billionaire’s public image.
