Two Israeli tanks and a bulldozer advanced toward Salah al-Din Street near Al-Bureij early Monday as troops redrew Gaza's "Yellow Line" with concrete blocks, widening the army's control perimeter.
Heavy machine-gun fire from drones and border watchtowers hit the outskirts of Al-Bureij camp and the Da'wa College area north of Al-Nuseirat during the advance.
The move marks the fifth shift of the boundary in about two weeks, following Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's statements about expanding Israeli military control over Gaza.
Large-scale demolitions also struck areas east of Khan Yunis and east of Gaza City, with explosions heard widely across the enclave.
