Valve quietly rewrote the Steam Machine product page, replacing “4K gaming at 60 FPS with FSR” with the softer “Up to 4K gaming with FSR 4.1.”
The unannounced change surfaced after launch on X and ResetEra, when buyers and reviewers began testing the hardware more closely and questioning whether 4K at 60 FPS was realistic.
February marketing and last year's preview coverage had framed 4K/60 with upscaling as a target, with Valve saying most Steam titles played well at that level in its testing.
Technical analysis has pointed lower: Rock Paper Shotgun's James Archer said the machine is best viewed as a 1080p device, with major games needing lowered settings and aggressive FSR to reach solid frame rates.
