EIB Pledges Airbus Record €3 Billion Loan as EU Pushes Technological Sovereignty

A first €1 billion tranche was signed Monday in Brussels, launching a record EIB financing package for Airbus’s research, development and innovation work.
The full €3 billion loan will back programs in France, Germany and Spain aimed at strengthening Airbus’s capabilities in commercial and defense aviation.
The European Investment Bank framed the funding as part of the EU’s drive to bolster technological sovereignty as competition from the US and China intensifies.
