President Oaks Posts 2026 Mission Seminar Clip as LDS Leaders Share Faith, AI and Fatherhood Messages

Its ultimate goal is to use the open house as a missionary and teaching moment: to help millions of visitors understand why temples matter, point them to Jesus Christ, and invite them to feel that the temple is a house of the Lord—not just admire a landmark restoration. Church leaders have framed the Salt Lake Temple celebration as much more than a showcase of engineering and preservation. While the renovation highlights seismic strengthening, accessibility improvements and the restoration of historic features such as the original temple doors, the broader purpose is to explain the sacred role of temples in Latter-day Saint belief. That includes teaching about covenants with God, the centrality of families, divine purpose and the peace and guidance believers seek in temple worship. President Dieter F. Uchtdorf’s description of the temple as a place of “peace, light, and divine connection” reflects that emphasis. Related Church messaging around temple open houses has also stressed that everything in the temple points to Jesus Christ and is meant to help people better understand His role as Savior. So, beyond drawing an expected 3 million to 5 million visitors, Church leaders want the Salt Lake Temple open house to deepen public understanding of the faith, strengthen relationships with the wider community, and invite people to “come, see and feel” the holiness of the temple and the Church’s message about Christ.

June 21 posts from President Dallin H. Oaks highlighted his 2026 Seminar for New Mission Leaders remarks, urging missionaries and members to testify that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the “only true and living Church.”
That seminar message anchored a broader wave of church social media updates, with Elder Ronald A. Rasband on June 22 pointing to worldwide missionary growth and saying the church is “only scratching the surface” of what lies ahead.
Other senior leaders used June 23-25 posts to stress prayer, temple worship, the Atonement of Jesus Christ and reassurance for those facing anxiety or depression.
The stream also widened to current and family themes, with Elder Gerrit W. Gong addressing artificial intelligence with cautious optimism and several leaders marking Father’s Day by praising fathers’ divine role and Christlike example.
