Slammiversary then denied him immediate redemption in similarly disputed fashion. Whether Slater can still dethrone Alexander going forward is a credible possibility, not a certainty. The evidence is strong that he remains one of the division’s top threats: he nearly reclaimed the title, generated some of the match’s biggest moments, and was inches from victory. But as of now, the factual answer is that he has not overcome the injustice yet. Alexander is still champion, and Slater’s case for another one-on-one title shot has only grown stronger.

The finish came after Slater had already unhooked the title while racing Amazing Red across the cables, allowing Alexander to steal the belt without either airborne wrestler touching the mat.
Seven wrestlers competed in the 55th Ultimate X match in TNA history, with Frankie Kazarian, Fabian Aichner, KC Navarro and Mr. Elegance also in the title bout.
Amazing Red’s return added extra intrigue — it was his first appearance in a TNA ring in about 15 years — but Alexander again denied Slater after previously taking the title from him.
