Summary
More than 400 unwanted items from Ayton Castle are set for auction on 5 July after Alan Carr bought the Scottish Borders property and kept only selected furnishings.
About 90 lots come from the Branxton Cement Menagerie, a folk-art collection created in the 1960s by a retired joiner for his disabled son and moved to the castle in 2021.
A 2011 Bentley Mulsanne with just over 40,000 miles is the priciest item, estimated at £20,000 to £30,000, while some LNER railway time boards are guided at £10 to £15.
Railtons said interest has already come from UK and overseas buyers, with viewing scheduled for the Friday and Saturday before the ticketed sale at the castle.
