Ro Khanna said Elon Musk "won't intimidate me" after Musk threatened to sue and said the California Democrat should be in prison over Khanna's criticism of USAID cuts.
The clash followed Khanna's podcast claim that dismantling USAID may have doomed 4.5 million children, citing a Lancet study and demanding accountability for Musk's role in the cuts.
Musk answered on X with "Time to sue this liar," as conservatives defended the drive to eliminate what they called wasteful foreign-aid spending while critics said lifesaving programs were swept up too.
By March last year, USAID had cut about 83% of its programs, according to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, underscoring the scale of the overhaul now fueling the dispute.
