Mega Skarmory is a worthwhile niche investment, not a must-have centerpiece. Its value is clear but specialized. As a Steel/Flying Mega, it ranks near the top of its own lanes — top three for Steel and top five for Flying — and brings unusual utility through ten resistances. That makes it useful in raids where survivability, teamwide Mega boosts, and type-specific support matter more than pure damage. It also has practical long-term value for Steel- and Flying-type catch bonuses, including extra Candy and better XL Candy returns during relevant events. What it is not is a meta-defining answer to everything. Mega Mewtwo X and especially Mega Mewtwo Y, arriving at Go Fest 2026, are expected to sit much higher in the overall power hierarchy, with broader offensive impact and stronger raw raid performance. If a player has limited raid passes, Mega Energy priorities, or Stardust, Mega Mewtwo is the better universal investment. That said, Mega Skarmory is more than Pokédex filler because it does something Mega Mewtwo does not: it provides Steel/Flying Mega coverage. For players who raid often, build type-specific teams, or want a durable support Mega for certain bosses and event farming, it is a smart pickup. For casual players focused on maximum return ahead of next month’s headline release, one registration and enough energy to unlock it is probably sufficient, with heavier investment better saved for Mega Mewtwo.

Mega Skarmory is now live worldwide in Pokémon Go through June 2026’s Mega Skarmory Raid Day, appearing in Super Mega Raids and adding a new Pokédex entry.
Steel/Flying typing leaves it weak only to Electric and Fire, while giving it resistance to 10 types and making it a top-three Steel Mega and top-five Flying Mega.
20,106 CP raid bosses are best handled with Mega Charizard Y, Mega Manectric or Mega Charizard X; Shadow Therian Thundurus leads the non-Mega counters.
Niantic recommends at least 10 trainers for the raid, though highly optimized high-level groups may clear it with five or six players.
Regular Skarmory catches range from 1,139 to 1,204 CP after a win, or 1,424 to 1,506 CP in snowy or windy weather, and its shiny form is available immediately.
