De la Rosa had credits on Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and My Little Pony: The Movie, and was in Annecy for the MIFA market with his original project Ash Raider World.
Born in Mexico and based in Vancouver, he had worked for studios including Titmouse, Petty Karma and Deluxe Animation after graduating from Vancouver Film School in 2015.
The Annecy International Animation Film Festival called the death tragic, with artistic director Marcel Jean set to offer condolences at Saturday’s closing ceremony as attendees posted tributes online.
