Eni Launches HPC7, Pushing Combined Computing Power Above 1 Exaflop

HPC7 went online with 571 petaflops of sustained performance, lifting Eni’s combined HPC6-HPC7 capacity to 1,048 petaflops and taking the Italian energy group into the exascale class.
TOP500 ranked HPC7 sixth globally and second in Europe, ahead of Eni’s HPC6 system, while Eni said the launch cements its position as the world’s most powerful industrial high-performance computing user.
3,480 nodes and nearly 14,000 GPUs power the HPE Cray EX4000 system, which Eni uses for subsurface modeling, industrial optimization, AI applications, CO2 storage simulations and fusion-related plasma research.
Green500 placed HPC7 11th worldwide at 65.426 GFlops per watt; Eni said direct liquid cooling dissipates 96% of generated heat and supports its broader decarbonization and Net Zero strategy.
