Fertitta Launches 13-Region Italy Tour for U.S. 250th Anniversary

June 13 marks the start of Ambassador Tilman Fertitta’s Freedom 250 Coastal Diplomacy Italy initiative, a months-long voyage meant to celebrate the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence.
Aboard his yacht Boardwalk, Fertitta plans to visit at least 13 Italian coastal regions, meeting local communities, business leaders and public officials through cultural and diplomatic events.
Stops include Civitavecchia, Naples, Palermo, Cefalù, Venice, Trieste and Genoa, with the trip set to end in Sardinia in mid-August.
The tour is designed to promote U.S.-Italy ties in commerce, innovation and culture while linking the U.S. 250th anniversary with Italy’s 80 years as a republic.
Freedom 250 is part of a global U.S. commemoration, and Fertitta said he will personally fund the Boardwalk voyage.
