Summary
Focus Features released the first trailer for George Oakley’s new Sense and Sensibility, with Daisy Edgar-Jones leading the Jane Austen revival before its Oct. 16 cinema debut.
Working Title produced the film from a Diana Reid adaptation, with Esmé Creed-Miles, Caitríona Balfe, Frank Dillane, George MacKay and Fiona Shaw among the ensemble cast.
The story follows the Dashwood sisters after their father’s death leaves the family in reduced circumstances, sending them to a cottage where Elinor and Marianne navigate suitors and love.
Focus holds global rights and Universal Pictures International will distribute overseas, extending a partnership that previously backed Austen adaptations including 2005’s Pride & Prejudice and 2020’s Emma.
The new film arrives after Ang Lee’s 1995 Sense and Sensibility, written by Emma Thompson, earned seven Oscar nominations and more than $134 million worldwide.
