Ashley Fisler Faces 12-Count Indictment Over Student Abuse Allegations

Gloucester County prosecutors on Wednesday filed a 12-count superseding indictment against former New Jersey teacher Ashley Fisler, adding charges including manufacturing child sexual abuse material, sexual assault of a minor and pattern of official misconduct.
Investigators said the case stems from an alleged sexual relationship with a student in 2021 at Orchard Valley Middle School, with encounters described in Fisler’s vehicle and classroom and text messages cited as evidence.
Prosecutors allege Fisler kept exchanging thousands of often sexually explicit messages after the student entered high school; one reported trove ran to about 7,500 pages.
Fisler, 36, was arrested in March on eight charges, while her lawyer has argued prosecutors are relying on selective texts taken out of context.
Each first-degree count carries up to 20 years in prison, and officials said Fisler no longer works for the Washington Township school district or any other district.
