Summary
Surveillance, dashcam and body-camera footage released Wednesday night shows Alvarado Police Lt. Thomas Gross being shot in the neck and shoulder moments after arriving at the Prairieland ICE detention facility on July 4, 2025.
Prosecutors said the group carried out a premeditated attack inspired by antifa ideology, using fireworks, vandalism and gunfire against responding officers after a front-desk worker called 911 reporting chaos outside and someone trying to get in.
Body-camera audio captures officers realizing Gross had been hit, with Gross saying, "No, I'm f-----g hit," before telling them the shooters had run off; other video shows suspects detained and weapons and evidence processed at the scene.
The release came a day after 8 people convicted in the attack were sentenced, including the group's leader, who received 100 years in prison.
