Tyler Russell Charged in 6-Death New York Hotel Fire After Parole Release

Tyler Russell, 24, was arrested Monday and charged with six counts of second-degree manslaughter and one count of arson over the fire at the Knights Inn in Endwell.
Six people died and two were taken to a hospital after first responders reached the hotel around 6 a.m. and found it fully engulfed, with flames spreading rapidly through the building.
The Knights Inn was being used by Broome County social services to house homeless people; a Red Cross volunteer estimated 73 people were displaced, and emergency shelter was opened at Vestal United Methodist Church.
Russell had been released on parole in February after serving about two years on a grand larceny conviction, and authorities said no motive has been announced as the investigation continues.
