Summary
Travis Barr Longo, 46, resigned Monday from the Cazenovia school board after New York State Police arrested him and federal prosecutors charged him with receiving and possessing child pornography.
Investigators said Longo engaged in sexually explicit digital communications with a child under 12 and found numerous child-pornography images and videos on his phone during a June 18 search.
Court records cited chats in which Longo discussed his sexual interest in children, including a minor boy known to him and to whom he had access; he also faces four state counts of endangering a child.
The board demanded his immediate resignation, voted unanimously to begin removal proceedings, and said it was shocked and committed to student safety.
Longo, elected in May 2024 to a three-year term and known for a drag stage persona, faces a mandatory minimum of five years in federal prison if convicted.
