The plea followed new reporting that a second ransom note said Nancy Guthrie died shortly after her abduction and was "buried with nature," though authorities have not confirmed the note was authentic.
No money or Bitcoin was sent in response to the messages, a federal law enforcement source said, limiting investigators' ability to trace whoever sent them.
