Summary
Naftali Bennett said Israel launched a plan to acquire and smuggle tens of thousands of Starlink receivers into Iran so protesters could keep internet access during unrest.
Bennett said the devices were meant to help anti-government demonstrators coordinate and ultimately topple Iran’s government, but Netanyahu’s administration halted the effort before the infrastructure was in place.
Starlink is not licensed in Iran, though Elon Musk has said the service is active there, and Reuters has previously reported some Iranians used it during Iranian internet blackouts.
Iran has accused Israel and the United States of smuggling in the devices before, while Netanyahu’s office and SpaceX did not immediately respond to Bennett’s latest claims.
Bennett, an opposition leader ahead of an election due by October, said he would revive efforts to undermine Tehran if he returns to office, including economic and industrial sabotage short of direct attacks.
