Summary
Hunter Albrecht, a 7-year San Antonio police veteran, was identified Monday as the officer shot in the abdomen during Friday’s standoff and is still recovering in hospital.
Around 12:09 p.m. Friday, Albrecht and two other officers answered a gun-disturbance call near Red Hawk Ridge and Hardy Oak Boulevard, entered the home after finding a broken back-door window, and were met by gunfire.
Two children inside were taken to safety, while the suspected gunman, Albert Richter, barricaded himself with Brianna Richter, identified by police as his estranged wife and the children’s mother.
After SWAT failed to draw anyone out and deployed tear gas, a police drone found Albert Richter and Brianna Richter dead inside; police are investigating the case as a murder-suicide.
