Trump said Sunday he would fold the New York Times' latest Iran-war reporting into his $15 billion defamation suit, calling the paper's coverage "treasonous" and its reporting "false and ridiculous."
The threat followed a Times analysis arguing that nearly four months of war and an interim U.S.-Iran agreement had not removed what U.S. and Israeli officials see as Iran's main threats, including its nuclear program and missiles.
Trump rejected that assessment, saying Iran's military, navy and air force were effectively destroyed and that the Strait of Hormuz remained open.
The White House has cast the memorandum of understanding as a diplomatic breakthrough after Operation Epic Fury, and JD Vance said talks in Switzerland secured a mechanism to keep Hormuz open and bring IAEA inspectors back.
The clash adds to Trump's broader legal offensive against major media outlets; ABC News and Paramount have already reached settlements tied to his future presidential library.
