40-year-old Tameka Hall was arrested in DeLand and charged with felony grand theft after investigators said she hid an elderly customer's receipt needed to redeem $2,700 in Florida Lottery winnings.
Surveillance video allegedly showed Hall folding the receipt and putting it in her uniform vest pocket after giving the customer claim instructions at the Walmart convenience store Sunday morning.
The customer returned hours later after realizing the receipt was missing, and deputies recovered it from Hall's vehicle the next morning after she said she had been distracted and meant to give it to a manager.
Walmart said Hall is no longer employed, while a lottery expert urged winners to sign tickets, photograph them and keep claim receipts secure as participation grows.
