Ron DeSantis said on X that a Buc-ee’s at the U.S.-1 exit in Florida City “would do very well,” publicly endorsing a site just before the highway stretch into the Florida Keys.
That backing adds a possible South Florida stop to Buc-ee’s broader Florida push, which already includes planned locations in Ocala, Fort Pierce, Tallahassee and a potential site near Port Charlotte.
2029 is the target opening for the Ocala store near I-75, while Fort Pierce is expected in 2027 with plans showing up to 120 gas pumps and more than 700 parking spaces.
Tallahassee’s proposed I-10 location could bring about 200 jobs and span 75,000 square feet, underscoring how aggressively the Texas-based travel-center chain is expanding in Florida.
