One stroke gave Wyndham Clark his second U.S. Open title at Shinnecock Hills, where the American led wire-to-wire and finished ahead of Sam Burns.
That victory vaulted Clark from 34th to eighth in the Official World Golf Ranking, while Burns climbed from 30th to 15th and Tom Kim surged from 141st to 64th after taking solo third.
Clark also collected 750 FedExCup points and $4.5 million from the $22.5 million purse.
His PGA Tour career earnings rose to $38,426,799, moving him up nine spots to 38th on the all-time money list, whose top 10 remained unchanged.
