Q: Will the new Edge phone's chipset handle Android 17's promised AI features?

Probably not for all of Android 17’s headline AI features, and it is not confirmed for the Edge 70 Fusion. The phone is set to get Android 17 because Motorola ships it with Android 16 and promises three major OS upgrades. But receiving Android 17 is different from supporting its most demanding on-device AI features, especially the Gemini Intelligence tools mentioned in the broader Android 17 rollout. The Edge 70 Fusion uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 4. That chip does include AI processing, but the available reporting describes it as a midrange platform focused more on efficiency and everyday reliability than top-tier AI performance. By contrast, Android 17’s most advanced AI package appears to require a qualifying flagship-class chip, 12GB of RAM, and support for Gemini Nano v3 or better, along with longer software support commitments. The new 12GB/512GB variant clears the RAM part of that equation, but there is no clear evidence that the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 in the Edge 70 Fusion supports Gemini Nano v3. The searched material also stops short of naming the Edge 70 Fusion as a confirmed Gemini Intelligence device. INR 36,999 buys a new India-only Edge 70 Fusion configuration with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, expanding the model beyond the 256GB maximum offered since its March launch.
