I-5 Southbound Reopens After 1 Fatal Motorcycle Crash Near Portland's Marquam Bridge

Summary
Southbound I-5 just south of Portland's Marquam Bridge reopened around 10:30 p.m. Friday, about four hours after a motorcycle crash at exit 299A/Lake Oswego shut the freeway.
Police said first responders found the rider dead at the scene after the crash was reported at about 6:15 p.m., and initial reports indicated no other vehicles were involved.
Traffic had been rerouted onto I-405 northbound, with drivers urged to use I-205 as a bypass while the closure remained in place.
The death was Portland's 20th traffic fatality of 2026 and the 8th involving a motorcycle or gas-powered scooter; it was also the second motorcyclist killed on I-5 in Portland in 25 hours.
Portland police asked anyone with information who has not already spoken to investigators to submit tips referencing case 26-178327.
