Google Launches Search History Setting to Save User Media for AI Training

Google is rolling out “Search Services History” over the next few months, a setting that stores images, files, audio and video uploaded through Search tools such as Lens and Search Live.
The company said the saved media will be used to improve Google services and AI models, while also helping users revisit past searches and receive personalized recommendations and ads.
The setting should not switch on unless a user already has “Web & App Activity” enabled; users can check myactivity.google.com to turn it off or delete individual activity.
Calli Schroeder of the Electronic Privacy Information Center urged users to opt out, warning that stored voice, images and search queries could expose sensitive biometric and personal information.
Google disputed claims that the data is collected for biometric purposes or used to alter prices, saying the controls can be turned on or off at any time.
