Summary
183,953 Europeans now hold at least $30 million in wealth, up from 146,525 in 2021, adding 37,428 ultra-high-net-worth individuals over five years.
20.5 people a day crossed that threshold on average across Europe, according to Knight Frank's Wealth Report 2026, versus 89 a day worldwide.
Germany led Europe both in total ultra-rich residents and growth pace, rising to 38,215 after adding the equivalent of five new $30 million-plus individuals a day; the UK and France followed.
The surge comes against sharp wealth gaps: euro-area median household net wealth was €123,500, but ranged from €2,000 for the bottom 20% to €1.01 million for the top 20%.
Globally, the US remained the main wealth engine with 251,352 ultra-rich people in 2026 and roughly 36.7 new entrants a day, ahead of China at 121,677.
Between 2021 and 2026, Europe saw a remarkable rise in the number of Ultra-High-Net-Worth Individuals (UHNWIs), reflecting a broader global trend of wealth accumulation. This surge was driven by a significant increase in the value of financial assets, especially in 2021, when the global UHNWI population grew by 46,000. Over the past two decades, the ultra-wealthy population has expanded seven times faster than the global adult population, highlighting a sustained concentration of wealth. Europe’s experience is closely linked to these global patterns, with its ultra-rich ranks growing rapidly alongside worldwide financial trends.
