Summary
Galaxy Watch users can now make tap-to-pay purchases and transit payments with Google Wallet on Samsung models running Wear OS 2.0 or later, effectively starting with the Galaxy Watch 4.
Setup requires Google Wallet and tap-to-pay support in the user’s region, plus a supported bank card; Samsung’s Tizen-based Galaxy Watch 1, 2 and 3 are excluded.
Cards are added through the paired Android phone’s Wallet app, verified by the issuing bank, and the first approved card becomes the default payment option on the watch.
Galaxy Watch owners must unlock the watch, open Wallet and hold it to the reader for each payment, unlike Pixel Watch 2 and newer Pixel devices that can pay without unlocking.
In Japan, Google Wallet also supports Suica and PASMO on Japan-purchased Samsung watches with FeliCa—currently Galaxy Watch 6, 7, 8, 8 Classic and Ultra models.
