Summary
$174,000 — equal to one year of congressional pay — was pledged by New York Republican candidate Anthony Constantino to Sgt. Eddie Ryan’s family, whether or not he wins the NY-21 race.
Constantino said he chose Ryan after meeting him earlier this year and cited the Iraq War veteran’s resilience as the reason, saying he wanted the gift to spur support for veterans.
Ryan, a former Marine sniper, was shot twice in the head by friendly fire in Iraq in 2005, suffered a traumatic brain injury and still faces mobility and speech challenges.
June 23 is the date of Constantino’s Republican primary against Assembly Member Robert Smullen to succeed Rep. Elise Stefanik in New York’s 21st District.
Trump endorsed Constantino in April, and the Sticker Mule CEO has already spent millions of his own money while framing the campaign as a fight against the political establishment.
