Amazon Launches Bedrock AgentCore Web Search in 1 AWS Region

Summary
Amazon made Web Search on Bedrock AgentCore generally available, letting AI agents pull cited, current web results from within a customer’s secured AWS environment.
The tool uses a built-in MCP connector on AgentCore Gateway and returns snippets, URLs, titles and publication dates so models can ground answers beyond training data without sending queries to external search APIs.
Amazon said the service combines its web index with structured knowledge graph data, aiming to improve relevance and factual accuracy over standard web search alone.
US East (N. Virginia) is the first available region, and AWS said the feature carries no added charge beyond Gateway data-transfer fees; new customers can receive up to $200 in Free Tier credits.
The launch extends Amazon’s Bedrock push after it also introduced a managed knowledge base service for enterprise generative AI applications using proprietary data.
