Summary
Jeremy Clarkson said in the final episodes of season five of Clarkson’s Farm that doctors found an aggressive prostate cancer last summer and removed the affected 10% of his prostate.
The 66-year-old told co-stars Kaleb Cooper and Charlie Ireland the disease was caught at a “really early stage,” saying a medical check and biopsy may have saved his life.
Hospital-bed scenes at the end of the series show Clarkson saying some treatment had “gone awry” and warning viewers he would return for season six only if the treatment succeeded.
Prostate Cancer UK said Clarkson’s disclosure could raise vital awareness, noting more than 10,000 men in the UK are diagnosed too late for a cure each year.
Prostate cancer accounts for 28% of new male cancer cases in the UK, where there is no national NHS screening programme but eligible men can request a PSA blood test.
