Delta Flight 1966 reached JFK safely Tuesday and taxied to the gate under its own power after an alert over possible landing-gear trouble; no injuries were reported.
A 4:45 p.m. call said the inbound Airbus A321neo from San Juan had two flat front tires, triggering an FDNY second-alarm standby that sent 46 units and 141 fire and EMS personnel.
Delta later said only one tire showed tread wear rather than a blowout, calling the response more precautionary than necessary.
Maintenance cleared the aircraft to continue without a taxiway tire change, and FDNY declared the scene under control by 5:06 p.m.
