That means even if the agreement is signed on Friday, the strait is unlikely to snap back immediately to prewar conditions. Analysts and shipping experts say normalization will probably take weeks at a minimum and more likely months. Mine-clearing, route verification, naval deconfliction, insurance pricing and crew safety checks all have to be resolved before large-scale oil traffic returns. So the practical answer is this: a symbolic reopening could begin around or after the June 19 signing, but a full reopening to normal global oil flows still has no firm date and is widely expected to take months.
