Q: Before this patch, how widely was the exploited Qualcomm vulnerability used in real-world attacks?

It was not reported as widespread; Google said the Qualcomm flaw was under “limited, targeted exploitation” before the patch. The vulnerability, CVE-2026-21385, affected Qualcomm graphics drivers and was already being used in real-world attacks before Samsung’s June 5, 2026 security patch incorporated the Android fixes. But the evidence points to narrow, deliberate use rather than mass compromise. Google’s Android security guidance flagged it as possibly exploited in a limited way, and its inclusion in CISA’s Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog reinforced that it had been actively abused. What is missing is any public evidence of broad-scale attacks. Google did not disclose victim counts, targeting details, or indicators of compromise, which is typical when exploitation appears tied to highly selective operations. Security researchers generally interpret that language as consistent with spyware-style or state-linked campaigns aimed at specific targets, not ordinary users at large. So, before this patch, the Qualcomm bug was being exploited in the wild, but only in a limited and targeted manner, not widely across the Android user base.

May 13 marked Samsung’s One UI 9 beta launch for the Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra, with the Android 17 update now live in Germany, the UK, South Korea, the US, India and Poland.
One UI 9 is positioned as a refinement release, adding a redesigned Quick Panel, stronger accessibility tools, suspicious-app blocking and expanded AI features rather than overhauling Samsung’s Ambient Design.
July 22 is the widely reported target for the stable release, likely debuting first on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 at an expected London Unpacked event that Samsung has not officially confirmed.
Late July through early 2027 is the expected broader rollout window, with Galaxy S25 and S24 models next in line while older devices such as the Galaxy S22 series, S21 FE, Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 are expected to miss the update.
