Summary
Japan’s Sharp introduced its first smartwatch, the Karada Mate Watch, and said it will go on sale July 9 for ¥59,400 ($370).
A bioelectrical impedance sensor estimates calories consumed and fluid intake by measuring changes in body water and sugar levels, then compares intake with calories burned.
The watch also adds hydration alerts, heart-rate, SpO2, skin-temperature, sleep and step tracking, plus GPS, in an 11.9-mm case rated to 5 ATM.
Sharp paired the launch with the Aquos R11 smartphone; the watch works with both iPhones and Android devices, while overseas availability remains undisclosed.
