India's PC Market Jumps 31.9% to 4.4 Million Units as Brands Front-Load Inventory

4.4 million PCs shipped in India in Q1 2026, up 31.9% year on year, as vendors and channels accelerated purchases ahead of expected component cost increases.
3.5 million notebook shipments drove the surge, rising 44.8% on strong consumer demand, online promotions and government education orders including Tamil Nadu's ELCOT project.
882,000 desktop shipments fell 2.7% as higher component prices and a shift toward mobile devices prompted order delays, while the commercial PC segment still grew 25%.
1.1 million tablets shipped, up 5.8%, with 14% consumer growth and a 58% rise in non-education commercial demand offsetting a 35% contraction in education.
Omdia still forecasts India's 2026 PC market will decline 5.3% to 15 million units, citing memory and storage constraints even as AI PCs, gaming and GCC demand offer support.
