That is the key caveat: with upscaling and selective settings cuts, 4K output is possible. But native or near-native 4K in 2026 is a different standard. Current evidence across PC gaming shows many demanding titles now use well above 8GB at 4K, often landing in the 14GB to 20GB range, especially with high-resolution textures, Unreal Engine 5 features, and ray tracing enabled. When VRAM runs short, the problem is not just lower average frame rates. It typically causes stutter, poor 1% lows, texture pop-in, aggressive streaming, and forced reductions in texture quality. In other words, a machine can technically render at 4K while still failing to deliver the smooth, high-fidelity experience consumers expect from a premium console-class device.
