3.5/5 — TechRadar says the RugOne Xever 8 is a capable rugged phone whose hot-swappable battery system stands out, but its aging Helio G200 chip keeps it from feeling next-generation.
Two 4,800mAh batteries and a charging dock ship in the box, letting users swap power packs without shutting the phone down and stretching usable capacity to roughly 9,600mAh across a workday.
The trade-off is steep: the 6nm SoC supports only 4G, lacks an NPU, limits video to 2K, and leaves performance merely mid-range despite the phone’s 2026 launch.
$368 in the US and about £380 in the UK makes it cheaper than the Xever 7 Pro and Samsung’s Galaxy XCover7 Pro, though TechRadar says the value is only moderate given the weaker chipset.
For field workers and outdoor users, the Xever 8’s IP68/IP69K protection, MIL-STD-810H build and night-vision camera may outweigh its connectivity and performance compromises.
