2027 is shaping up as a crowded year for big-budget games, with GTA 6's arrival expected to end the industry's long pause around Rockstar's next blockbuster.
8 years after Red Dead Redemption 2, GTA 6 lands as AAA development cycles have stretched sharply—Fable alone is nearing a 9-year production run after pandemic-era delays worsened the slowdown.
Summer Game Fest announcements pointed to a packed slate: early 2027 titles include Stranger Than Heaven, a Tomb Raider remake, Metro 2039 and Fable, followed by Final Fantasy 7 Revelation and Exodus in spring.
